The Paperclip is an artifact which is not commonly discovered because it has no analogs. As such, it can exist on only a single world at any given time, even with time being relative.
Appearance
The Paperclip appears to be a thick alabaster tablet, which stands upon an Ionian column of marble. Upon the surface, a number of runes radiate a light of an extremely dark purple hue, providing excellent contrast against the rest of the device.
Powers
While it is not known how each rune translates into action, it is known that the Paperclip has the power to bind worlds together, in whole or partial measure. For example, pressing several runes could cause the world you are standing on to become entirely bound to a world made of lava, which would react quite violently. On the other hand, it might only fractionally associate the two, so that, perhaps, travelers on an astral plane notice more lava about.
History
While it is known that the Gray Lord Dyn of Aethos created the machine, when, how and why are unknowns, even to him.
