Contents

Appearance

Dynseal's appearance is semi-stable, meaning that it always holds the general shape of a sword, but is tempered by the expectations of the one holding it. For example:

A young boy who has heard tales of this legendary blade finds it and picks it up. It becomes, without obvious transition, a blade of shining steel eight feet long, inscribed with brightly-glowing runes and outfitted with an ornate golden handle, surmounted by the large, rough crystal of Dianachte. As the boy has no experience with blades, it weighs as little as cardboard.

A tempered and realistic knight takes up the blade. It appears to be about the same size and width of his own blade, with an ornate but manageable handle, surmounted by the rough crystal of Dianachte. It weighs about the same as he would expect a blade of that length and size to be, and is perfectly balanced.

The constants: Dynseal is always a sword. Dynseal's hilt is always of unusual decoration. Dianachte does not change.

Powers

Dynseal bears physical power equal to what the wielder expects. It cannot be destroyed via normal means, but can be 'broken' if the one holding it does not believe otherwise. It may at any point be re-constituted by one holding a part of it.

Dyn's Seal

Any object or person impaled upon the point of Dynseal is subjected to this spell. This functions by rendering the object into the requisite idea from which it was spawned, and pulls the idea through the blade, into Dianachte. From there, the idea is removed to a 'semi-plane' also known as Dyn's Seal, wherein the idea is kept in a half-extant state. Ideas therein are fully self-aware, and entirely omnipotent within Dyn's Seal, but helpless to leave in any way. As long as an idea remains within Dyn's Seal, it cannot be re-applied to any existence in the purview of the Seal.

Transition of Will

Dianachte contains a fully malleable plane. By dint of will, the wielder of Dynseal may create an object or force within this plane, and give it transit to the world Dynseal exists in. To simplify this, Dynseal automatically considers the desires of the wielder, filters them through the hilt of the blade, and alters the world around it thereby. (IE: A mage casts a fireball at Neverborn. Neverborn's desire to not be hit by this causes Dynseal to translate a targeted and neutral magic effect into the world, and uses the resulting void to pull the fireball into Dianachte. Dynseal's reaction and action time are extremely fast.

Protection of the Great Seal

Those in-contact with Dynseal are immune to time-stream change effects, paradox effects, polymorph effects, vacuum, antithesis effects and wild magic, including those effects manufactured by Dynseal.

Shape of the Great Seal

Planar Aura: While Dynseal exists on a plane, Plane-wide spell effects are countered if possible.

Ley Attractor

Ley Lines redirected to create a nexus beneath Dynseal's location.

Limitations

Dynseal may not act on a wish which directly changes the wielder. Dynseal may not create. Dynseal may not destroy. Dynseal cannot undo that which was done with Dynseal.

Activation

Dynseal is non-functional in any plane it has not been attuned to. This is a complex process requiring an understanding of the mechanics of that plane which exceeds typical divine knowledge. The one wishing to activate the blade will add a runic representation of the plane in microcosm, including forces therein, then supply the blade with power sufficient to 'spark' the internal systems- this requires godlike power.

Creation

Dynseal was the result of an experiment by Lord Dyn, intended to prove that 'perfect seal' could indeed be manufactured. The spell Dyn's Seal proved largely successful, but impossible to be used in any practical sense, as the runic design required to begin the spell was of absurd size and complexity. To continue tests with the spell, Dyn decided to imprint the spell upon an artifact.

He decided to use a blade he had already made Razvigon (Thing-bringer), which used a three-part system to extract objects and energy from Dianachte, a crystal Dyn had located some centuries earlier. When finished, Dyn re-forged the blade within the Fountain of Time, on the unbreakable crystal later titled the Anvil of Eternity within(enchantments intact therein), adding manifested material representative of Desthera's world-wall, Aethic matter and simple pig iron to the blade to create an efficient container for the magics.

At the end of this process, he discovered that the matrices of magic therein had become intermingled, making the artifact considerably more streamlined in a metaphysical sense. To oversee this, he built a series of AI enchantments into the blade (based on the already extant Translation Engine located in the hilt) and created the Protocol enchantment to ensure that it would not be altered.

History

Quite a bit thereof.
